In a changing political and legal landscape in Canada, it is critical for Palestinian and solidarity advocates to know their rights now and understand how their rights may be challenged in the future.
Mohamed El Rashidy is a highly respected criminal trial lawyer based in Toronto with vast experience in the field of advocacy. Mr. El Rashidy has held leadership roles in national human rights and civil liberties organizations, served as a legal advisor to several institutions, and contributed to Ontario's Anti-Racism Directorate.
In this webinar, Mr. El Rashidy will provide an overview of the current landscape and what it means for those calling for justice in Palestine. Topics to be discussed include:
Free speech and protest rights
How to understand risk in a context of overpolicing and charges to activists
Provisions in the proposed Bill C-9 that expand policing of expression
