The Centre coordinates legal support for individuals and groups facing discrimination, harassment, and legal challenges related to their Palestinian identity and/or activism through our roster of dedicated legal professionals.   • Location: Remote (Canada-based)
    Employment Type: Full-time (1-year renewable contract)
    Start Date: January 2026
    Salary: $54,000 CAD
    Schedule: Negotiable schedule at 35 hours per week. Occasional evening or weekend commitments may be required; equivalent time off will be provided when additional hours are worked.

    About the Role

    The Legal Centre for Palestine (LCP) is dedicated to defending and advancing the legal rights of Palestinians and allies in Canada through direct legal assistance, strategic litigation, and public education.

    The Legal Intake Program Coordinator will play a central role in expanding and enhancing LCP’s legal assistance program. Working closely with LCP’s leadership and in-house counsel, the Legal Intake Program Coordinator will manage the day-to-day operation of the intake and referral system, maintain and expand the roster of advocates, support data-driven reporting, and facilitate collaboration across LCP’s legal network. This position ensures that individuals seeking support receive timely, culturally sensitive, and effective assistance, while also strengthening the systems, data, and partnerships that underpin LCP’s legal work.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct intake of requests for legal assistance in a timely, empathetic, and culturally sensitive manner.

    • Assess the nature and urgency of each matter, document it accurately, and ensure appropriate referral or escalation.

    • Subject to licensing requirements and experience, provide tentative information or advice on matters within the candidate’s competencies.

    • Follow up on referred matters to assess outcomes, client satisfaction, and identify any ongoing support needs.

    • Act as the primary contact for questions and concerns from LCP’s lawyer network and work to strengthen those relationships 

    • Maintain transparent and consistent communication with LCP leadership and in-house counsel regarding the above responsibilities and status of cases, including the implementation of a regular reporting schedule.

    • Manage and improve LCP’s case intake and tracking systems, potentially including the implementation of a new file management system.

    • Uphold strict confidentiality and compliance with LCP’s privacy and data protection obligations and standards.

    • Generate periodic reports summarizing trends, incident types, and outcomes for internal and public reporting.

    • Identify practice areas or regions with limited legal coverage in our network and support the recruitment of new volunteer lawyers to fill those gaps.

    • Facilitate collaboration between lawyers in LCP’s network handling similar issues or working in related fields, allowing LCP to act as a medium of professional knowledge and relationship-building.

    • Build and sustain relationships with partner organizations, legal clinics, and community networks across Canada.

    • Perform other related duties as required and as capacity allows.

    The successful candidate may be asked to perform other tasks by the organization. Capacity-permitting, additional tasks may include:

    • In collaboration with LCP’s communication and outreach team, suggest outreach material related to intake’s work, successes, and needs.

    • Support public legal education (PLE) initiatives such as webinars or workshops by coordinating speakers, logistics, and promotion.

    • Provide assistance to LCP’s in-house lawyer(s), including file preparation, legal research, and correspondence.

    Candidate Requirements

    • Two to four years of relevant experience in a legal environment such as a firm, community clinic, in-house legal department, etc.

    • A degree, diploma, certificate, or equivalent education in a legal or paralegal studies is strongly preferred.

    • Experience in nonprofit environments, client intake, case management, or community work.

    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities with discretion, cultural sensitivity, and attention to detail.

    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle sensitive matters professionally.

    • Proficiency with digital data management systems and comfort adopting new software tools.

    • Familiarity with confidentiality and privacy standards and requirements.

    • Experience working with or within the Palestinian, Arab, and/or Muslim communities in Canada is a significant asset.

    • Demonstrated commitment to LCP’s mission and values.
